Severe Lake Heatwaves Attributable to Human?Induced Global Warming

چکیده
Much of the focus global warming impacts on lakes have focused changes in mean temperature. However, are also highly vulnerable to thermal extremes. Such extremes occur, by definition, during lake heatwaves. Heatwaves occurred globally recent decades and had severe negative impacts. unlike their atmospheric counterparts, it is currently unknown what extent heatwaves altered human-induced climate change. Here, we estimate human contribution heatwaves, specifically focusing most events. We demonstrate that occurrence probabilities increase substantially due influence. Our analysis suggests 94% observed satellite data-taking period an anthropogenic contribution. Globally, suggest 3 25- times more likely a 1.5°C 3.5°C warmer world, respectively, compared world without

Frequency of severe storms and global warming
[1] We use five years of data from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) to develop a correlation between the frequency of Deep Convective Clouds (DCC) and the zonal mean tropical surface temperature. AIRS data show that the frequency of DCC in the tropical oceans is very temperature sensitive, increasing 45% per 1 K increase of the zonal mean surface temperature. The combination of the sensi...

This paper investigates the impact of aerosol forcing uncertainty on the robustness of estimates of the twentieth-century warming attributable to anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. Attribution analyses on three coupled climate models with very different sensitivities and aerosol forcing are carried out. The Third Hadley Centre Coupled Ocean–Atmosphere GCM (HadCM3), Parallel Climate Model (...
متن کاملGlobal patterns in lake ecosystem responses to warming based on the temperature dependence of metabolism.
Climate warming is expected to have large effects on ecosystems in part due to the temperature dependence of metabolism. The responses of metabolic rates to climate warming may be greatest in the tropics and at low elevations because mean temperatures are warmer there and metabolic rates respond exponentially to temperature (with exponents >1). However, if warming rates are sufficiently fast in...
متن کاملRecent Warming of Lake Kivu
Lake Kivu in East Africa has gained notoriety for its prodigious amounts of dissolved methane and dangers of limnic eruption. Being meromictic, it is also expected to accumulate heat due to rising regional air temperatures. To investigate the warming trend and distinguish between atmospheric and geothermal heating sources, we compiled historical temperature data, performed measurements with log...
